why are we adding New Zeland Genetics

If you didn’t know, we have recently started breeding our two Friesian cows to New Zealand Friesian genetics. New Zealand is known for its superb genetics, optimizing udder health, longevity, and lifetime high production.

Baby Jubilee

Friesians are the original Holsteins, originating from Europe. They are known for their high milk concentrates, large milk production, and gentle dispositions.

We are concentrating on bringing in only the highest quality genetics as we expand our herd and are focusing on grass-fed genetics that optimize the feed-to-milk intake ratio. These cows are not just bred for the intent of high milk production; the genetics we have chosen also include traits of higher udder capacity, lower somatic cell counts, higher fertility, and higher body condition score.

Our Liberty

It is important to us to have happy and healthy cows, and we are making sure to take those next steps to be able to provide that!

We currently only have two claves that have NZ Friesians; Liberty and Jubilee. They are technically half sisters! We hope to keep breeding our Friesians (Cocoa and Camille- eventually Liberty and Jubilee) to bring more of these happy little babies into the world.

We will also be adding NZ Jersey genetics this year. One of our members is going to be our new in-house AI technician. We are overjoyed to bring around a new breeding program this new year.
